You have a new puppy? Congratulations!

Did you know - that puppy play is just as important as puppy training. Actually, the best part about our training is that it is fun and seems like playtime for your dog

Training and playtime is really important for your new puppy as it is key to their healthy development

A trained and obedient puppy is much more likely to become a happy and well balanced dog which is a joy to have around - Read on to find out some of the key reasons to promote fun training and play with your new puppy

It's great for their mental and physical wellbeing

Training helps your new puppy cope with unexpected and new experiences, and lets be honest they are going to get a lot of new experiences as they start their new life with you - so anything that you can do to help makes this positive, fun and enhance the bond with you is a fantastic opportunity.

By building fun and play into training you are helping to use up that energy and start to create that bond between you and your dog. This helps build trust, so that when you do experience new situations and/or new people, your puppy already knows to trust you.

Pro Tip

Keep your actual training with your puppy short and sweet, so that they don't lose focus. We recommend two to three minutes of actual training - such as when the kettle is boiling or when the adverts come on during a programme on the television

You get to spend quality and fun time together

Dogs are social animals and love being by your side and really enjoy the interaction and fun playtimes with training. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your dogs personality (they are all different), understand what reward they respond to (such as treats, toys etc) and really cement the bonding process between you and your dog

Pro Tip

Remember that puppies also need a lot of sleep to help them develop and rest, so when you puppy is sleeping - let them be :)

A trained dog is a happy dog and leads to a well behaved puppy

All the work that you put into your puppy in the early stages will reap benefits as they get older, so even a little training at this stage will make your puppy easier to live with, and be able to deal with social situations
